On Visiting the Galapagos is a naturalist’s delight
We are planning a trip to the Galapagos. At this time we are gathering information. Could you tell us what company you used and how you liked it? Loved your pictures.

Amazing photos of the natural world. This must have been” a dream come true.” Thanks for sharing these with us.

What wonderful photos. You are indeed an artist! As I scrolled down my screen, they just got better and better. You have some real winners! Many, many thanks for taking the time to develop such a good story line with each picture.

Off the radar
Judy Palm’s picture of the collapsing “Radar House” is triple-star! It’s in the category of “not-a-still-photo” or how about “action captured?”
Natalie Thompson, Melrose, Mass.
Thank you for the info on the house at Rye Ledge. Someone told me it had been torn down. I was shocked and horrified. Gone? No, it couldn’t be.
As a young girl in the early 60’-70’s, I would ride by and fantasize about owning it some day. It was a landmark I would always look for on the way up the coast. “There’s my house!”
I grew up and shared the house with my son. It became his dream, too. “There’s my house!” became “There’s our house!” became “There’s Ben’s house.” Now it’s gone. It felt like I’d been punched in the stomach. I dread having to drive by it the first time.
Am I just a sentimental fool? I’m not even a “local”. Surely there must be more people who feel like I do?
Laura Smith, Kensington, N.H.
The destruction of the “observation tower” made me think of a huge Gillette razor.
John Landreth, San Jose, Costa Rica
Kudos on the excellent coverage of the destruction of the tower. Knowing nothing about its impending doom, I drove by after they had taken down the house, leaving the tower. I was stunned but felt that at least they would build anew around the tower. Then the next time I happened by, they were picking up the pieces of the tower.
Over 4 years the tower has been a welcoming landmark - first when we would visit, then after we moved here. I only hope the new structure will maintain some of the feeling of the original.

Artist’s journey takes her from danger to solitude
I enjoyed reading about Ann Tolson. Love her work. Maybe one of these days I’ll be in the right place at the right time to see one of her shows. This was a good article. Thanks.

Driving lessons
Enjoyed your interesting and amusing article on driving. In today’s world driving in Washington, D.C., NY, Bangkok or Paris is one of life’s most nerve-wracking chores, but you gotta do it. I didn’t realize Las Vegas had grown so much. The last time we were there was 1993. My how time flies.

Great article as always. I’ll never forget learning to drive stick shift in Jamaica - especially the time when I went without you and ended up in the mountains with no way to get down again. I was so upset. I just stopped the car and cried. I have no idea how I ever got back to the hotel! I also remember driving to Ocho Rios a couple of times – once by myself, and later when I told people they were horrified as they said it was dangerous. I don’t think I’ve driven a stick shift since.
Anyway, fun to read and remember!

Story line is full of humor and definitely accurate as it pertains to driving in Las Vegas, Nevada.
