Webster at Rye Lawn Party is a summer tradition

The perfect summer day allowed Barbara and Donald Ripley to eat their share of the 250 lobsters served.

Approximately 300 residents, retirees, volunteers, board members and guests attended the 21st annual lawn party at Webster at Rye on August 15th. This event is the highlight of the summer at Webster. Planning begins months in advance, with Activities Coordinator Kerry Robertson and Director of Dietary Services Mary Perron taking the lead. The weather was perfect. Only once in 21 years has the event been postponed, due to inclement weather.

The day before the party, the corn is delivered. The residents look forward to this corn husking party, where they spend part of the afternoon shucking corn and reminiscing.

The main course was lobsta! Barbara St. Lawrence (2nd from left), Muriel Cummings (center) and friends ate heartily.

Retiree Gordon Davis is a woodworker who handcrafted this dollhouse that was raffled off at the party.  Anyone who attended was eligible to win.  The dollhouse was won by one of Webster's LNA's, Laurie Leo.

Members of the dietary staff assist guests making their way thru the buffet line.

Many volunteers and staff from each department are involved in all aspects of the party preparations, working together to make sure the day runs smoothly for all.

Activities aide Ann Newell assists volunteer Phyllis Petruzziello in assembling strawberry shortcakes for dessert.

CEO Tom Argue and HR Director Todd Fernald greeted the attendees.

In celebration of National Nursing Home Week 2007, Residents of Webster at Rye made this banner to reflect this year’s theme, Treasure Our Elders.
